Learning Library > How We Hear How We Hear
Hearing is a complex process. To put it simply, when something makes a noise, it sends sound waves through the air. These waves are funneled into the ear canal by the outer ear, and the sound waves strike the eardrum and cause it to vibrate. These vibrations are transmitted through the middle ear to the inner ear, where they stimulate sensory cells. The signals travel from the sensory cells to the auditory nerve and then the brain, where they are interpreted as sound. If you are having difficulty hearing, you should have an audiometric examination to evaluate your hearing. |
